About Renuka Acrylic & Display 47 – Plastic in Mumbai
This is our small setup in Malad, specifically in the Shraddha Co-Operative Housing Society area. We work mostly with acrylic sheets, cutting them into different shapes for displays or nameplates. If you walk in, you’ll see bits of plastic shavings all over the floor because we are always cutting something new. It’s a bit messy, but that’s the nature of the work. We have a couple of machines that take up most of the room. We started this because there was a need for local display work in this part of Malad. People from the nearby shops often come to us when they need a new sign or a stand for their products. We spend a lot of time measuring and making sure the edges are smooth. It’s not a big corporate factory, just a local shop where we do things by hand or with our small machines. Sometimes the society members walk past and look in to see what we are making today. We try to keep things quiet during the afternoons, but sometimes the work is urgent and we have to keep going. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know how to handle the material. Dealing with acrylic is tricky because it scratches easily, so we have to be careful with every piece. We've been in this spot for a while now and most people around here know where to find us. It’s a steady job that keeps us on our toes.
