Remesh B Upadhyay

My office is tucked away in Kandivali East, specifically at A/08 in the Siddhi Vinayak building. If you are looking for me, it’s best to just find the Surabhi Hotel because everyone knows where that is and I’m right near it. I’ve been working from this spot as Remesh B Upadhyay for quite a few years now. It’s a simple space with a desk, some chairs for visitors, and a lot of books and papers. I handle various professional matters for people in the neighborhood. It’s not the kind of place with a big staff or anyone to greet you at the door. Usually, it’s just me. I spend a lot of time on the phone or typing away on my old computer. The area around here is nice, though the street can get loud when the hotel is busy. People drop in to talk about their problems or need some advice on paperwork, and I do what I can to help them out. I don’t like making things more complicated than they need to be. I just give it to people straight. Sometimes we sit and have a cup of tea while we go over things. It’s a quiet life, mostly, and I like being part of the community here in Kandivali. It feels like home after all this time working in this building.
