Our shop is tucked away in Dharavi at Saibaba Nagar, specifically Shop Number 32 on 90 Feet Road. If you know the area, you know it is always crowded and there is a lot of energy everywhere you look. We deal mostly in embroidery materials like different types of threads, needles, and those little shiny sequins that tailors use for wedding clothes. The space inside is quite small and we have boxes piled up on every available inch of floor. It is a bit of a maze sometimes. We have been here for a long time and the neighbors all know us by name. Most of our customers are local workers who need specific supplies for the garments they are making in the nearby workshops. We have spools of zari thread in gold and silver colors that catch the light when the sun hits the doorway. The dust from the road gets inside sometimes so we are always dusting off the counters. It is a practical place for people who actually work with their hands. We do not have any air conditioning so the front door stays open all day to let a bit of a breeze in. It gets loud with the bikes and carts passing by on 90 Feet Road but we just talk louder. It is just a regular shop where we try to keep the things people need in stock.
