Being at Malad West in Gala No 1 of the Shree Chandra Bhuva building means dealing with a lot of noise. The trading business is mostly about moving stuff in and out. There are always trucks trying to back into the narrow lane, and the drivers are usually shouting at each other to move. Inside the gala, it stays a bit cooler because of the high ceilings, but it is still pretty dusty. We have been here for a good amount of time now. The walls could use a new coat of paint, but there is never really a quiet day to get that done. My chair squeaks every time I lean back to answer the phone. Usually, it is someone asking where their delivery is or checking on a price for something. We have stacks of ledgers and old boxes sitting in the corners. Sometimes the cat from next door comes in to sleep on top of the crates. Nobody minds much. It is just a regular place where work happens. We drink a lot of water because it gets stuffy. The tube light flickers sometimes, which is annoying when you are trying to read a small invoice. Most of the people who come by are regular faces we have known for years. We do not do anything fancy, just keep track of the stock and make sure things go where they are supposed to go.
