R. K. Shipping Pvt. Ltd. is located in Fort, which is one of the older and more crowded parts of the city. We are in Mapla House, specifically inside Room No. 11. The building has that old Mumbai feel to it, with high ceilings and narrow stairs that have been there forever. It is situated at 13-21 Mohd. Shakoor Marg. Working in Fort means you are always surrounded by history and a lot of noise coming up from the street. Our room isn’t very large, but we have managed to fit enough desks and filing cabinets to make the space work for us. Shipping involves a lot of back-and-forth communication. We spend most of the day on the phone or checking arrival schedules. It is not a glamorous job, and the office can get pretty warm in the summer months even with the fans going full blast. We have been in this same spot for quite a while now. You eventually get used to the sounds of the traffic and the people shouting outside. Sometimes we have to run over to other offices nearby because everything in the shipping world is connected. We do not have a fancy lobby or a receptionist at the door. If the door is open, you just walk in and say hello. Mapla House is a bit tucked away, so people sometimes have trouble finding us the first time, but we are here every day.
