Prasad Film Lab

Prasad Film Lab is located at 3 Rajpat Yadav Chawl, specifically in Munshi Mahal on Pratap Nagar Road. This is Bhandup West in Mumbai, so you can imagine it’s quite a crowded and busy spot. The chawl setting means we are right in the heart of the community. It’s not a polished studio with expensive rugs. It’s a working lab where we handle film and other related tasks. Mumbai is always noisy, and Pratap Nagar Road is no exception with the shops and the people everywhere. We have our chemicals and our darkroom setup. It’s a bit tight for space inside, but we’ve made it work for a long time. There’s a certain smell to a film lab that you just get used to after a while. We aren't trying to be the most modern place in the city. We just like the traditional way of doing things. Most people who come here are locals or folks who still value film work in this digital age. The building itself is quite old and has seen better days, but it’s sturdy. We spend a lot of time tucked away inside, away from the bright Mumbai sun. It’s honest, manual work that requires some patience and care. We don't have a big marketing budget or anything. We just rely on being here every day and doing what we know how to do. It’s a small operation.
