Our place is at 5No. 58 on Sarang Street. It’s near Bandra Reclamation in Mahim, so it’s a pretty lively area to be working in every day. Power Maxx Tools (India) Pvt. Ltd. has been operating out of this building for a good while. The stairs are a bit narrow and the elevator is temperamental, but we make it work. We deal with a lot of heavy equipment, so there's always a bit of lifting and shifting going on. My desk is tucked in a corner where I can see who walks through the door. It’s rarely quiet here because there is always someone testing a tool or moving crates around. We have a small crew and most of us have been here for years. We know each other’s habits and who takes their tea with too much sugar. Sometimes the humidity in Mahim gets to us, but we just keep the windows open for a breeze. We don’t bother with big marketing meetings or anything like that. We just focus on the orders that come in. If a customer has a problem, they call and we talk it through. It’s straightforward. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we started, with new buildings going up, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We just do our bit and try to keep things moving. It’s a lot of manual work and paperwork, but it is what it is.
