I work out of the Alankar Building in Malad West, specifically at number 41483. It is a typical Malad apartment building where things are always a bit lively. My workspace is just a room filled with fabrics, sketches, and a lot of thread. Sometimes it is a mess because I have several projects going at once. People come by for fittings or just to talk about a design they have in mind. I don't have a big shop window on the street, so you have to know where you are going to find me. There is usually music playing softly in the background while I work at the table. The light comes in through the window and hits the different colored clothes I'm working on. It’s not a corporate office with a lobby; it is more like a personal studio. I spend hours here every day, sometimes staying late if a piece needs to be finished. The neighbors in the building are friendly and we often see each other in the hallway. It’s a comfortable place to work. I’ve lived and worked in Malad for a long time, so I’m used to the pace of this area. It gets busy with the local markets nearby, but inside the building, it stays relatively calm. If you come by, you’ll probably find me surrounded by patterns and pincushions, just trying to get the latest order ready for pick up.
