If you find yourself on Sindhi Lane in Charni Road, you might see the Lotwala Building. That’s where we are. It’s an old part of Mumbai, near the Alankar area, and it has that classic feel you don't find in the newer suburbs. Parmar Arts has been around for some time, and we’re used to the narrow streets and the constant bustle of the city outside our door. Our workspace is filled with all sorts of things related to the arts. It’s definitely not a tidy place, but we know where everything is. We spend our days working on different creative projects, often with the sound of the trains at Charni Road station in the distance. It’s a small shop, really. We don't have a big marketing budget or a social media team. Most people know us because they’ve walked past or their family has used our services before. We deal with a lot of local customers who just want something made properly. It’s a lot of manual work and using our hands. Sometimes our hands are covered in paint or ink by the end of the day. We like the grit of this neighborhood and the history that comes with it. We aren't looking to become a giant company, we just want to keep making things in our own way in this little corner of Mumbai. It can be a bit chaotic on Mondays, but we manage somehow.
