Pitamber Lane is where we are, inside Udyog Mandir No-1 at unit 201 B. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know it’s a lot of small units and industrial activity. Pankaj Potentiometers is tucked away on the second floor, and we spend our days dealing with small components and parts. It’s quiet work in some ways, but there is always the hum of the neighboring units around us. The staircase is a bit steep and the elevator can be temperamental, so we often just take the stairs anyway. Our workspace is filled with small boxes and tools that we use every day. We don’t have any big signs or flashy lights outside. It’s just a door with the name on it. We usually keep the windows open to let some air in, even if it brings in the dust from the street below. Lunch is usually brought from home and we eat it quickly at our desks before getting back to the assembly or the testing. It’s a very hands-on environment and we like the rhythm of it. Dealing with potentiometers requires a bit of patience and a steady hand, so we just take our time with each piece. It’s just how we do things here in Udyog Mandir, keeping it simple and getting the work done every day without any fuss.
