Pactel Telecommunications

Pactel Telecommunications is located right in the Fort area, on Modi Street. We are on the first floor, numbers 114 and 116. It’s right across from the GPO, which is a good landmark if you’re trying to find the place. The building is older, like most things around here, but it has character. We handle telecom stuff. It gets pretty loud outside with all the traffic and people heading to the station, but inside it’s just us working. There’s a lot of paper and wires everywhere. We aren’t really into the whole corporate look. It’s a bit cramped sometimes but we make it work. Most of us have been working together for years now. We know the chai wallah downstairs pretty well. It’s a busy part of town to be in. We don't have any flashy signs or anything like that. Just the name on the door. People usually call us first before dropping by. Working in Fort means you get used to the old buildings and the narrow streets. It feels like real work happens here. We just focus on the tasks at hand and try to stay organized. It’s a simple operation. We don’t spend much time on fancy talk. We just do the work we have for the day and then head out to catch our trains. It is what it is, and we like the rhythm of this neighborhood.
