If you head over to Fort 55, you’ll find us in one of those old buildings that Mumbai is famous for. The ceilings are high and the walls are thick, which helps keep things a bit cooler during the summer months. Noor is a small operation, and we don’t really go in for a lot of flash or advertising. We just have our space where we keep our stock and talk to the people who wander in. The Fort area is always buzzing with lawyers, office workers, and tourists, so there is never a dull moment looking out the window. Our floor is usually covered in bits of thread or paper because we are always working on something. It isn’t the tidiest place, but we know where everything is kept. Sometimes we have to move three boxes just to find a chair for a visitor. It’s been this way for years, and we don’t see much point in changing it now. The street outside is narrow and can get quite crowded with vendors, so getting things delivered can be a bit of a headache. Still, we like being in this part of town. There is a lot of history in these streets, and being at number 55 feels like we are a small part of that. We just open up, do our thing, and close up when the sun goes down. It's a simple routine.
