Our shop is at 4 Malad West on Hinjewadi Road and it is right there at Dange Chowk. If you look for the Maharaja Apartment, we are directly opposite the telephone exchange. It is a heavy place to work because everything we sell is made of metal or wood. My hands are usually covered in a bit of grease or dust from handling the bolts and tools all day. We have bins full of different sized screws and it takes a long time to keep them all sorted out. The shelves go all the way to the ceiling and I have to use a long pole to reach some of the items. People from the neighborhood come in when their tap is leaking or they need a new lock for their door. We don't have any fancy displays, just the things people need to fix their houses. It gets quite loud with the traffic from the chowk outside and the sound of metal clanking on the counters. There is an old ceiling fan that wobbles a bit but it keeps the air moving. We spend a lot of time talking to the contractors who come in early in the morning to get their supplies for the day. It is a simple business and we like being in this part of Malad where everyone knows each other. We just focus on getting people the right tool for whatever they are working on.
