Nilesh Plastic

Nilesh Plastic is based in Goregaon East, at Gala No 5 in Churiwadi, right off Aarey Road. It’s an industrial area, so there’s always the sound of machines and trucks moving about. We make plastic items, mostly small parts and containers. The gala is a bit cramped because we have the molding machines in there along with all the raw material sacks. It gets pretty hot in the summer with the machines running all day. I usually have a fan pointed right at me, but it doesn't do much. I started this business after working for someone else for ten years. It’s hard work and the hours are long. My wife sometimes brings me lunch because I don't have time to go out. We don't have a big office or a showroom. If someone wants to see what we make, they just come into the workshop and I show them. The floor is covered in little plastic scraps that I sweep up every evening. Aarey Road is nearby, so sometimes I take a walk there just to see some green trees after being inside the factory all day. It’s a simple operation, but we manage to keep things moving. We just do our best every day to get the orders finished on time. The noise of the machine is like music once you get used to it.
