Down at 19/B on Govind Patil Marg, you’ll find us at Nicky Computers. We are tucked away in Khar West, right near Bardoli Road. The shop is usually full of parts, screens, and tangled wires because there is always something that needs fixing. We’ve been working on computers for a long time now, and we’ve seen everything from old clunky towers to the newer laptops that break if you look at them wrong. It’s just a small place, nothing too impressive to look at from the outside. I spend a lot of my day staring at motherboards or trying to explain to someone why their hard drive stopped working. It can be frustrating when parts don’t arrive on time, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. Khar is a busy neighborhood, so there is always someone coming in with a cracked screen or a virus they can’t get rid of. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know our way around a circuit board. The lighting in the shop isn't the best, but we have all the tools we need. We don't really do much advertising; most people just hear about us from their neighbors or walk in because they live nearby. It’s a steady kind of life, fixing one machine after another and hoping the rain doesn't leak through the front door when it pours.
