New Choudhary Traders

We are over here at Shop No 1 in Laxami Palace. Most people know the spot because it’s right near Jan Kalyan Bank in Malad West. It’s a busy corner of Jan K and the noise from the street usually starts early. I get here, open up the metal shutters, and start the day. The shop isn’t huge, but New Choudhary Traders has its place here. We spend a lot of time organizing things on the shelves and dealing with whatever comes through the door. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the front of the palace building. Sometimes we just sit on the stools and watch the bank customers come and go. People stop by to ask for directions more than you’d think. The traffic in Malad is always something else. We keep the books in the back and try to stay on top of the orders. It’s a lot of manual work, moving boxes and checking things twice. By the time evening rolls around, the streetlights come on and things slow down just a bit. We don't have any fancy displays, just the stock and our desk. It’s a simple way to make a living. Most of our neighbors have been around for years too. It’s just us doing our thing in this little corner of the city, day in and day out.
