New Asian Sofa

The shop is tucked away at 329/2629 Bangur Nagar Link Road in Motilal Nagar 2. It isn't much to look at from the outside, just a workspace filled with rolls of fabric and old wooden frames. We spend most of our mornings drinking tea before the heavy work starts. There is usually foam dust all over the floor because we are always cutting pieces to fit different chairs. It’s just how it is here. New Asian Sofa has been in this spot for a bit now. We don't use fancy machines, mostly just hand tools and an old sewing machine that sometimes acts up when the thread gets stuck. The light in the back of the shop isn't great, so we move the sofas near the front door to see the stitching better. Sometimes the neighbors stop by just to talk while we work on a spring or a cushion. It gets hot in the afternoons, especially when the sun hits the link road. We have a small fan that wobbles on the table. We don't have a big team, just a few guys who know how to handle wood and cloth. People bring us their old furniture that’s falling apart and we strip it down to the bare bones. It’s a lot of manual labor and our hands stay pretty rough from the materials. We stay busy with the local orders coming in. We’ve been here a while and know the local people around the Bangur Nagar area well.
