Navkar Telicom

I’ve been at 75A/14 on Elphistan Road West for a while now. It’s right near the Mumbai Pune Road, so there is always noise from the traffic outside. Most days, it is just me and a couple of guys here at Navkar Telicom. We spend a lot of time looking at tiny screws and cracked phone screens under these bright desk lamps. My eyes get tired by evening. People stop in because they forgot their charger or their screen just stopped working for no reason. We have stacks of boxes everywhere, mostly screen protectors and cables that get tangled if you don’t watch them. It gets pretty hot in the afternoon, especially when the sun hits the front window. We usually keep a fan going, but it mostly just moves the warm air around. The floor is a bit scuffed up from everyone walking in and out all day. Sometimes the delivery guys bring the wrong parts and we have to wait another day to finish a job. It’s not fancy here, just a regular shop with a counter and some shelves. We drink a lot of tea from the place next door while we wait for the glue on a phone frame to dry properly. Usually, we stay open until the street gets quiet, which takes a long time in this part of Mumbai. It’s a lot of work but it keeps us busy enough to keep coming back every morning.
