We are based on the third floor of an old building at 186 Perinarimanst in the Fort area. The building has those high ceilings and big windows that you only find in the older parts of Mumbai. Getting up to the third floor is a bit of a workout every morning, but the view of the street below is worth it. Fort is always buzzing with lawyers and office workers, so there’s a lot of energy around. Our office is fairly simple, with some old filing cabinets and desks that have seen better days. We’ve been working together here for quite a while. It’s a quiet space compared to the chaos outside on the pavement. We mostly handle our business through phone calls and ledgers. Sometimes the rain leaks a little through the window frames if the wind is blowing the right way. We have a small pantry where we make coffee. The walls are a bit yellowed, and we have calendars from three years ago still hanging up because we forget to change them. It’s a comfortable place to spend the day. We know the postman and the delivery boys by name. Most of our work is routine, but we like the rhythm of it. In the evenings, we lock up the heavy wooden door and head down into the crowd. It’s just a modest family-run setup in a historic part of the city where everything feels like it has a story.
