Nakoda Telecom

You can find Nakoda Telecom over in Kandivali East on the Main Road in Gouthamnagar. Our shop is pretty small, but we managed to pack a lot into it over the years. We mostly deal with mobile phones and all the bits and pieces that go along with them. If you walk in, you’ll see stacks of screen guards and chargers hanging on the walls. It isn't a high-end boutique. It’s a place where people from the neighborhood come when they have a problem with their device. We spend a lot of time hunched over a workbench with small screwdrivers. The lighting is a bit harsh, but we need it to see those tiny internal parts. Most of our days are spent talking to regulars who need a quick recharge or a new battery. We don't wear uniforms here. We just wear our everyday clothes and keep the fan running to stay cool. Kandivali gets very crowded in the evenings, so that is usually our busiest time. Sometimes we have to tell someone that their phone is beyond saving, which is never fun, but we prefer to be honest about it. We don't have a big marketing plan. Word of mouth in Gouthamnagar is how most people find us. It’s just us doing our best to keep everyone connected. We don't mind the long hours because the shop is part of our life.
