N K Ball Bearings

N K Ball Bearings is situated on the second floor of Rajendra Bhawan, which is at 6 V P Road. We’re quite close to Congress House, so the area is always lively and sometimes a bit political depending on the day. Since we are on the second floor, we don’t get as much street dust, but carrying boxes of heavy bearings up the stairs is a workout every morning. The office is basically just stacks of boxes from floor to ceiling. It can feel a bit like a warehouse in here, with only narrow paths between the inventory to get to the desks. We spend a lot of time counting stock and checking part numbers under those flickering tube lights. V P Road is a narrow, busy stretch of Mumbai, and you can hear the scooters and cars constantly from the window. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way of doing things, keeping everything on hand and dealing with people face-to-face when they climb up to see us. We have a small window that looks out over the street, which is good for a bit of fresh air, though the city noise comes right in with it. We don't have any shiny displays, just the bearings in their grease-proof paper and the cardboard boxes they come in. It’s a steady, quiet kind of business that keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Most of our regulars know to just walk on up and find us among the boxes.
