Mustafak Banatwala

Mustafak Banatwala is situated at 65 Bhajipala Street in the Mahurat Pole area of Manek Chowk. We are on the ground floor of the Banatwala Building. This part of the city is very old and always very busy. If you have ever been to Manek Chowk, you know there are people everywhere and it is very loud. Our building has been here for generations, and we have been working out of this ground floor space for as long as I can remember. It is a sturdy old building with thick walls. We keep all our goods and records here. It is not a modern office with sleek furniture; it is more like a storehouse where we also do our business. We still use paper ledgers for a lot of our accounts because that is how we were taught. The street outside is narrow, so we see all the vendors and shoppers passing by our door. We know the other business owners on Bhajipala Street very well. We often share tea and talk about how the market is doing. We don't have a big corporate mission or any marketing slogans. We just open the shop in the morning and do our work until it is time to close. It is a busy, noisy, and very real way to live and work. We like the history of this place and being part of such an active community. It is home.
