Monto Plast

Monto Plast has been on Kika Street for a long time now. If you know Girgaon and the Gulalwadi area, you know how crowded it gets around here. It’s number 170, right in the thick of things where all the plastic trade happens. The shop is filled with stacks of products, sometimes so high you can’t see the back wall. It smells like new plastic most of the time, which you get used to after a while. We spend our mornings unloading trucks and our afternoons trying to organize the stock so we can actually find things. It’s not a quiet place to work. There’s always the sound of carts being pushed and people shouting out orders on the street. My hands are usually a bit dirty from moving boxes around all day. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we handle the business. Sometimes the rain leaks in a bit near the front door, so we have to move the bags quickly. Customers come in looking for specific items, and we dig through the piles to find them. It’s a lot of back and forth with the wholesalers. We eat lunch at our desks most days because it’s too busy to step out. It’s just how it goes here in the market. We do our bit, close up late, and come back to do it again the next day.
