Monalisa Art is located right in the middle of Crawford Market on Rahat Cross Road 40. If you know the market, you know it’s a bit of a maze and very loud. Our shop is a small place where we do framing and sell some art supplies. There are frames of all sizes leaning against the walls and the smell of wood and varnish is always in the air. We’ve been here for quite some time now. People bring us their photos, paintings, or even wedding certificates to get them framed. We do the work by hand, cutting the glass and joining the wood corners. It takes a bit of patience to get it straight. The market outside is always full of energy, with people selling everything from fruit to hardware. Sometimes it’s hard to hear the customers over the noise of the street, but we manage. We aren't a big gallery or anything fancy. We just provide a place for people to get their art taken care of. The shop can get quite messy with wood shavings and bits of mount board on the floor, but that's just part of the job. We enjoy seeing the different things people bring in to be framed. Every piece has a story, even if we don't always hear it. We just keep our heads down, do the framing, and stay open until the market starts to close.
