You can find Melkev Machinery Impex over at A-12/A in Ghatkopar West, near the H O. It’s a busy part of Mumbai, so there’s always a lot of noise and people moving around. We deal with machinery, mostly bringing things in or sending them out. Our office is more like a small warehouse with a desk squeezed into the corner. There are parts and crates everywhere you look. It can be hard to walk through the room sometimes without tripping over a piece of iron. Ghatkopar is a good spot for us because it’s easy for people to reach, even if the traffic is a mess most of the time. We don't have any shiny showrooms. If you want to see the machines, you have to come back into the storage area where it's a bit greasy. We spend a lot of time on the phone dealing with shipping agents and customs. It’s a lot of paperwork, but we prefer the hands-on part of the job. The guys here have been working with machines for a long time, so we know how to handle the heavy stuff. We don't use any fancy talk or try to impress anyone. We just show you what we have and tell you the price. That's the way it's been since we started. It's just a regular local business trying to keep the machines moving and the orders filled. We don't mind the mess as long as the work gets done.
