Bombay Machinery Stores has been around for quite a while, and most people know us through Post Office Box No. 3118. We don’t put a lot of stock in fancy appearances. Our shop is filled with all sorts of parts and tools that have been sitting there ready for someone who knows what they’re looking for. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze inside with all the crates and boxes stacked up. You might find a bit of dust on the shelves, but the machinery is what matters. We spend our days talking to mechanics and shop owners who need a specific bolt or a replacement gear. It’s a lot of manual logging and checking old catalogs. We don’t use a lot of high-tech systems; we mostly rely on knowing where everything is kept. The air usually smells like oil and old metal, which is how a machinery store should be, we think. Sometimes a customer comes in looking for something we haven't seen in years, and we have to go digging in the back. It’s satisfying when we find it. We’re not a huge operation, just a steady one that stays open until the sun goes down. We handle the mail and the orders as they come in through the post office box. It’s just us, the machines, and the daily routine of keeping the wheels turning for our customers. No big fuss, just tools and parts for people who need them.
