Mehta Earthmovers

Mehta Earthmovers has been operating out of 216 Mehta House for a long time. The building is at 36 Pandita Ramabai Road, right in the Chowpatty area. It’s an old house that has been converted into office space, so it has high ceilings and those thick walls that keep things a bit cooler. You can sometimes catch a bit of a breeze coming off the ocean, which is nice when the humidity gets high. Living and working around Chowpatty means we’re always surrounded by the sounds of the city—the traffic, the vendors, and the general bustle. Inside Mehta House, things are pretty quiet. We have our desks and our filing systems, and the floors are the old-fashioned kind that have been polished a thousand times. We don’t use any corporate lingo here. We just talk like normal people. Most of the staff have been with us for years, so we’re like a small family. We know who likes their tea with extra sugar and who prefers it black. It’s a very settled atmosphere. We handle our business with the earthmovers from these rooms, mostly over the phone or with people who come in to sit and talk. There aren't any modern art pieces on the walls, just some old photos of the equipment and maybe a calendar from last year. We’re proud of being in this building. It’s a solid place on a famous road, and it’s where we belong.
