The traffic around Andheri West is something else, especially near Fun Republic. We've been here for a while now, right on New Link Road. People come to us because they want to get their license without a lot of fuss. It started out small. Most days it’s just us and the cars, teaching people how to not stall in the middle of a busy junction. Driving in Mumbai isn't easy, so we spend a lot of time on the basics. Sometimes the students are nervous, sometimes they think they know everything already. We just sit in the passenger seat and keep an eye on things. The office isn't fancy, just a place to fill out forms and talk about the rules of the road. We see all kinds of people, from teenagers to older folks who finally decided it was time to learn. It gets hot in the afternoons, but the cars keep moving. We know these streets well by now. Every corner of Andheri has its own rhythm. We don't do anything flashy, just the usual lessons every day. If you see our cars near the cinema, that's probably one of the instructors showing someone how to park. It’s a lot of waiting and repeating things, but that is how it goes. We just keep at it, day after day, helping one person at a time get behind the wheel. It is a living, and it keeps us busy enough to not worry about much else.
