National Corporation

Our shop is at number one in the Rajkotwala Building. It is tucked away in Masjid Gali on the 8th Cross Lane. If you are looking for us, the best way to find the turn is to look for the Dilli Darbar Hotel since everyone knows where that is. The lane can get pretty narrow and crowded especially when people are moving goods back and forth. National Corporation is just a small spot in a very busy neighborhood. Inside the shop, it is mostly just shelves and a place for us to sit and talk to whoever comes in. We have been in this part of the city for a bit and the rhythm of the street is something you just get used to. Sometimes the smell of food from the nearby hotels drifts into the lane and it makes us all hungry around lunchtime. It is a practical space and we don't spend much on making it look polished. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint but we are more interested in getting the day's work done. The door stays open most of the day unless the rain is coming down too hard. It’s a lot of manual work and checking orders. We just try to keep things organized in a place that feels a bit chaotic outside. It is just a normal shop in a very old and busy part of Mumbai where everyone is trying to make a living.
