Our place is in Goregaon West, specifically at Room No 503 at number 63. It’s not a huge showroom with lights and carpets. It’s more of a workspace where things actually get built. Maharashtra Furniture is about the smell of wood shavings and the sound of saws. We spend our mornings measuring planks and figuring out how to make a cupboard fit a tight corner. Room 503 stays pretty busy with projects stacked up. Sometimes there’s barely enough space to walk around once a bed frame is halfway done. Being in Goregaon, we see a lot of people moving into new flats who need something sturdy that won't fall apart. We don't have a team of designers in suits. It’s just us with tape measures and pencils behind our ears. We use a lot of local materials. The elevator in the building can be slow, so we end up carrying a lot of stuff or waiting around. It’s a simple setup. We’ve been here for a while now and we know the neighborhood. The work is dusty and loud, but finishing a nice table feels good at the end of the day. We don't do fancy catalogs. We just show people what we’re working on right then. It is practical work for people who need furniture that lasts through the years without needing constant repairs or extra care.
