Mahalaxmi Steel Works

Mahalaxmi Steel Works is located in Vikhroli East. We are at Shop No 238/3262 in Chawl No 1. Our place is right opposite the BMC Market. If you are in the area, you can usually hear the sound of metal being worked on. It is a busy spot because the market across the street always has people coming and going. The shop is small and filled with tools and pieces of steel. It is a bit dusty and loud, but that is how a steel workshop is. We spend the whole day cutting and fixing things. We do not have a fancy office or a place to sit and have tea with customers. Usually, people just stand at the entrance and tell us what they need. It is very straightforward. The chawl has been here for a long time and we are part of the local fabric. Sometimes the weather makes it hot inside because of all the machines. We just keep working through it. Being near the BMC Market means we see a lot of the local life in Vikhroli. It is a practical location for what we do. We do not use any high-tech systems, just our hands and the machines we have. We just try to finish the work on time and keep the shop running as best as we can every day.
