Little Heart Nursery

Our nursery is located in Room 393 of Chawl Number 58 in Jogeshwari East. It is right in the heart of the MHB area. Space is hard to come by in Mumbai, so we use every inch of our room to make a good spot for the kids. It is a very local, community-focused place. We do not have fancy toys or air conditioning. We have some mats on the floor, plenty of picture books, and some basic toys that the children love. The atmosphere is always loud because there are so many families living close together, but that is just the way life is here. Most of the parents work nearby and appreciate having a place where their children can stay for a few hours. We teach them some basic rhymes and their ABCs. It is not a big academic institution, just a simple nursery run by people who live in the same neighborhood. We have known some of these families for years. Sometimes the power goes out, so we just move closer to the door for some light and air. We do not have any staff in uniforms or anything like that. We just wear our regular clothes and look after the little ones. It is a modest life, but we feel like we are doing something good for the chawl. We take care of each other.
