Kalpana Kids Dream

You can find us at Shop No 4 in the Patil Prasad building on Jawahar Road. We are quite close to the Sainath Plaza Shopping Centre, which means there are always people walking around our part of Mulund West. Our shop is a bit of a dream for kids because it is packed with so many different things. We have clothes and toys stacked up high on the shelves and sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in because there is so much stuff. The shop is not very large, so we have to be clever about where we put everything. We spend our mornings dusting and trying to keep the displays looking halfway decent, though by the evening, everything is usually a bit of a mess again. The floor is a simple white tile that shows every bit of dirt, so we are always sweeping. We’ve been here in Mulund for a long time and we know many of the parents who shop with us. There is no air conditioning, just a couple of wall fans that hum loudly while we work. We don't have a computer for billing; we still use a physical book to keep track of what we sell. It is a humble shop and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the local families to drop by.
