You can find us at Shop No 16 in D B Chawl. We are located in the Chuna Bhatti area, which is right near the Jogani Industrial Estate. The main landmark people use to find us is the cemetery nearby. It sounds a bit strange, but it makes giving directions much easier. Our shop is quite small and it is usually packed with whatever we are working on at the moment. Being part of a chawl means we are right in the middle of everything. There is always someone walking by or a truck moving supplies into the industrial estate. It gets quite dusty because of all the activity on the road, so we spend a lot of time just wiping down our workspace. We don’t have a big team or fancy uniforms. Usually, it is just a couple of us here. The space is tight, and we have to move boxes around just to find a place to sit and have lunch. We’ve been in this spot for years and the neighborhood has become very familiar. We know when the water comes and when the power might be a bit shaky during the monsoon. It is a very basic way of working, but it suits us just fine. We don’t need much more than our tools and a bit of space to use them. It is a busy, lived-in part of town, and we are glad to be a part of it.
