Laxmi Mechanical And Engineering Company is located at 234 in the Adarsh Industrial Estate. This part of Andheri East is always moving, especially with Sahar Road being so close to the airport area. You can hear the planes overhead sometimes when the workshop gets quiet, which isn't often. The space we have is filled with heavy machinery and the smell of cutting oil. It is a bit cramped because we have lived in this unit for a long time and gathered a lot of gear. We do a lot of the mechanical work right here on the floor. The floors are stained with grease, but that is just how an engineering shop looks when work is actually happening. Getting deliveries in and out can be a bit of a headache because the lanes in Adarsh are narrow and trucks always seem to get stuck. Our neighbors are mostly other small workshops, so there is a lot of banging and clanging throughout the day. We usually have a radio playing somewhere in the back to drown out the sound of the compressors. The lighting isn't the best, so we use those portable lamps to see the fine details on the parts we are fixing. It is honest work and the guys here have been doing it for years. We don't spend much time cleaning up for visitors because there is always another job waiting on the bench.
