Lakshmishree Organic Farms Llp has its main office up on the fourth floor of the Marathon Icon building. We are located in the Nextgen Campus over on Ganpatraokadam Marg in Mumbai. Being in the middle of the city means we spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at spreadsheets, but our work is really connected to the farms. It’s a bit of a trek to get up to unit 401 sometimes, especially when the elevators are busy. We started this because we wanted to bridge the gap between the rural farms and the people living here in the city. It’s not always a smooth process. Logistics in Maharashtra can be a real headache, and there are days when things just don’t go according to plan. We have a small team working here, and we all pitch in with whatever needs doing, whether it’s filing papers or coordinating with the transport guys. We aren't trying to be some big corporate giant. We’re just regular people who care about how food is grown and how it gets to the table. Some days are stressful with the deadlines and the city noise, but we keep at it. We’ve been in this office for a while now, and we’ve gotten to know the other folks in the building. It’s a lot of hard work, but we find it necessary to keep the connection to the land alive.
