Kumkum

Kumkum is our little spot in Andheri East, right at number 11. It’s a small shop in a very crowded part of the city. If you’ve ever been to Andheri East, you know how everyone is always in a hurry to get to the station or catch a bus. We see that rush every single day from our front door. The shop itself is pretty basic. We have shelves lined with all sorts of things, and it can get a little cramped when more than two people come in at the same time. We try to keep things organized, but in such a small space, it’s a constant battle. Sometimes we just chat with the regulars about how high the prices are getting or how the rain is going to cause a mess on the roads again. We don't have a big sign or any flashing lights, just a simple place where you can get what you need and be on your way. The building is quite old and the windows don't always close all the way, so we get a bit of the city noise inside. It’s just part of being in this neighborhood. We’ve been here for a while and we’ve seen shops come and go, but we just keep doing our thing at number 11. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s our life and we are used to the rhythm of Andheri now.
