Kizzards Preschool

We are situated inside Navjivan Society in Chembur East. It is a quiet residential area, which is great because we don’t have to worry about the main road traffic as much. Most of the kids who come here live right in the society or just a few buildings down. We have a couple of rooms that the society let us use for the preschool. It is not a massive space, but it is enough for the fifteen or so kids we have at a time. We have some old wooden desks and a lot of colorful cushions on the floor. We spend most of our mornings singing songs and learning numbers. The kids like the big windows because they can see the trees outside. Sometimes we take them for a walk around the society gardens just to get some fresh air. We don't have a big staff, just two of us who have been doing this for years. We know all the grandparents who come to pick the kids up. It feels more like a big family than a school sometimes. We don't have any fancy uniforms or expensive books. We just use what we have and make sure the kids are happy. It gets a bit chaotic when it is time to go home, but that is just how it goes. We like being part of the community here in Navjivan. It is a steady, simple job for us.
