Khushbu House

Khushbu House has been sitting here on Karve Road for a long time. If you know Andheri East, you know how the traffic gets around Kothrud during the evening rush. We spend a lot of our time just watching the street while we wait for the next person to walk in. It's a family thing, mostly. We have shelves full of different items, and honestly, sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer is looking for because we keep getting new stock delivered every other week. We don't use any fancy computers for everything; sometimes a simple notebook and a pen are just faster for keeping track of things. People come in asking for things they can't find in the big malls. We try to keep a bit of everything on hand. It's dusty sometimes, and the old ceiling fan makes a clicking noise that we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop on the block. We just want to make sure when someone leaves, they have what they needed for their home. It’s quiet in the afternoons, then things pick up when the nearby offices close. My uncle used to run things, now it’s more of a group effort among us. We drink a lot of tea while we work and talk about the neighborhood. If you pass by, you’ll probably see us sitting near the front door. We’ve seen the neighborhood change, but we’re still right here.
