K.D. Orient Impex

K.D. Orient Impex operates out of the Mahajan Mills Compound over on L.B.S. Marg in Vikhroli. It’s an old industrial sort of area and the compound has a lot of history to it. You can see the big gates from the main road. Being in Vikhroli means we are right in the middle of a lot of movement. Because we are in the Vikhroli area, we get to see the local side of things every day. L.B.S. Marg is always packed with trucks and cars, so there is a constant hum of traffic outside our doors. Our space is pretty functional with high ceilings and concrete floors, which is what you expect in a mill compound. We spend a lot of time dealing with shipments and paperwork for the import and export side of things. It’s not a glamorous job, just a lot of checking lists and making sure the crates are where they need to be. Sometimes the rain makes the compound a bit muddy, but we just wear our boots and keep going. There are other businesses nearby, mostly workshops and small warehouses, so there is a sense of everyone just doing their own thing. We have a small office area tucked in the corner with a few desks and a tea kettle that gets a lot of use. It’s a practical place for a business like ours. We don’t have any fancy signs, just the name on the door and work to do.
