Kashmir Novelties

Kashmir Novelties is a small shop over at 19, Mahakavi Bhushan Road. We are right in the Apollo Bunder area, so the sea is just a short walk away. You can often feel a bit of a breeze coming off the water if the front door is propped open. The street is narrow and has that old Mumbai feel to it, with lots of people walking by at all hours. Our shop is quite packed with various items, and we try to make use of every inch of wall space we have. There isn't much room for a desk, so we usually just stand or sit on a small stool near the entrance. It has been this way for a long time. We know the neighbors well, and sometimes they pop in just to say hello or ask for the time. The light inside is a bit dim because the buildings are so close together, but it makes the shop feel cozy. We don't have any fancy marketing plans or big sales events. We just open up in the morning and wait to see who comes through the door. Sometimes it is a tourist who got lost, and other times it is a local who has been coming to us for years. It is a simple life here near the Gateway. We handle our own stock and keep the books by hand mostly. It is just how we like to run things.
