Kasamali Tayebali

Kasamali Tayebali is our family spot located at Shop No 209. We are in the Kolsawala Chawl in Tardeo. It’s a very traditional kind of place, right on the 1st Main Road in Vidyaranya Nagar. If you look across the street, you’ll see the Ganga Jamuna Cinema. That cinema has been there forever, just like us. Working in a chawl is different from being in a big office tower. There is always someone walking by the door, and you hear everything happening in the street. Our shop is small and crowded with all sorts of things we’ve collected over the years. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two people are inside. We have been in Tardeo for a long time, and we’ve seen the whole area change around us. The cinema across the road used to be the biggest thing around. We still follow the same routine every morning, opening up the shutters and setting up our workspace. It’s hard work, and the heat can be a bit much in the summer since we don't have fancy air conditioning. We just use a couple of old ceiling fans that squeak. People in the neighborhood know the Kasamali Tayebali name. We don't do any advertising. Word of mouth has always been enough for us. It’s just a plain, honest business in a very old part of the city. We keep things simple and just keep going day after day.
