Working out of Malad East on Laxman Rao Road in Huriopet 8 means dealing with a lot of movement and noise every single day. At K Bhawar Lal, we have a routine that hasn't changed much over the years. We open up the doors and start moving boxes around to make space for the day's business. The shop floor is often covered in packing materials and old ledgers that we still use because they work better for us than some new computer systems. We handle various goods that come and go through the narrow streets of Huriopet. It can be a struggle to get deliveries in when the road is blocked with trucks, but we make it work. Most of our customers are other local traders or people who have been buying from us since the early days. We don't have a lot of decorations on the walls, just some old calendars and maybe a clock that is five minutes fast. There is always a lot of talk and haggling over prices, which is just part of the local trade culture here in Malad. We take pride in just showing up and doing the job without any fuss. The lunch break is usually short because there is always someone knocking at the door. It is a bit of a chaotic environment sometimes, but it feels like home to us after all these years. We just keep our heads down and work.
