K B Engineering

K B Engineering is located over in Malad East, specifically at C/16. It’s not a very big workshop, but we manage to fit everything we need inside. There’s a lot of metal scrap piled up in the corners, and the floor is always a bit slippery from the oil we use. We spend most of our days wearing old clothes that are covered in grease stains because there is no way to stay clean in this line of work. The fan on the ceiling wobbles a bit, and it makes a clicking sound that you eventually stop noticing after a few hours. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room for people. If someone comes by, they usually just walk straight into the work area and find us. It’s loud because of the drilling and the hammering, so we often have to shout to hear each other. We’ve had the same set of tools for years, and they still work better than some of the new stuff you see today. The rain in Malad can be quite heavy, and sometimes the water leaks in through the roof, so we have to move our machines around to keep them dry. It is just a basic engineering shop where we fix things and make parts. We don't try to make it look like something it isn't. It’s just hard work and a lot of heat most days.
