Our workshop, Jemco Arts, is over in Worli, at Sindhi Chawl Gala No. 1 & 2. We’re right behind the Lokseva Dairy on P.B. Marg. It’s an interesting spot to work in, and we’ve been here for a while. The gala is where all the actual work happens. It’s not a showroom, so it’s usually got tools and materials scattered around. We don't mind a bit of a mess as long as we’re making progress. Being behind the dairy means we have some familiar landmarks around us. It’s a busy part of town, but once you’re inside the workshop, we just focus on whatever is on the bench that day. We don't really do the whole corporate thing. It’s just a few of us who know how to make things. Sometimes the heat in the workshop gets to us, but we just keep the fans going and stay at it. People usually find us through word of mouth or because they’ve seen our name around the neighborhood. We don’t have a fancy reception area. If you come by, you’ll probably just see us working. It’s a simple, practical way to run a business. We’ve seen Worli change quite a bit, but our little corner at Sindhi Chawl stays pretty much the same. We just keep doing what we do, day in and day out, without much fuss. It's hard work sometimes, but it's what we know and what we've always done.
