Jazz Novelty

If you are walking down Hosur Main Road in Borivali West, you might stumble across Jazz Novelty at number 67. It’s a small shop packed with all sorts of things that you might not even know you needed until you see them on the shelf. We have been here for a bit, and the place has a life of its own. There are shelves full of little gifts, plastic toys, and stationery that tend to spill over into the aisles. It isn’t the most organized place in the world, but we like it that way because there is always something to find. The lights flickered for a week before we finally fixed them last Tuesday. We spend most of our time dusting the glass cases or helping a kid choose a pen. Borivali gets very crowded in the evenings, so we usually have a lot of people just popping in to look around while they wait for their bus or finish their shopping. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than three people are inside at once. My cousin helps out on the weekends when it gets really hectic. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait to see who walks through the door. It’s a simple way to spend the day, surrounded by all these small, colorful things that make people smile for a minute.
