Jamal Carpet Industries

Our office is at 11, Linden House, which is right in the Apollo Bunder area. We are very close to the Taj Hotel and the sea, so you can often smell the salt air when the breeze is right. It is a famous part of Mumbai, but our building is just a normal, older structure where we have set up our carpet business. We have been here for a long time. Inside, it is mostly stacks of carpets and desks covered in invoices. It is a bit cramped because carpets take up a lot of space, but we make it work. The high ceilings help keep it from feeling too crowded. We spend the day talking to vendors and making sure the shipments are moving through the port. Since the Gateway of India is so close, there are always tourists and lots of noise outside, but once you step inside Linden House, it gets a bit quieter. We are not a big corporation with many departments. It is just a few of us handling everything from the sales to the shipping details. Sometimes we have to move heavy rolls of carpet around to find the right one for a customer, which is a lot of hard work. We usually have lunch together at our desks while we talk about the day. It is a busy life in a busy city, and we have grown fond of this little corner of the world.
