Jaivik Greens

Down near the Mount Mary Steps on Rebello Road in Bandra West, you’ll find us at Jaivik Greens. We focus on green stuff, mostly things people want for their kitchen or home. It’s a nice area to be in, though the steps can be a workout if you’re carrying crates around. We get our supplies in early, usually while the air is still a bit cool. The shop isn't very large, so when a delivery comes in, it feels like we’re playing a game of Tetris trying to fit everything in the bins. We don't have a lot of fancy displays or neon signs. It’s mostly just wooden crates and some handwritten labels that sometimes get smudged when we are in a hurry. We spend a lot of time cleaning up leaves or wiping down the counters. Bandra people are usually in a hurry, but some like to chat about where the items come from. We tell them what we know, though we don't always have all the answers. Sometimes a batch of something doesn't look great, so we don't put it out on the shelves. That's just how it goes with natural products. It’s a quiet life for the most part, just handling food and talking to the neighbors who walk their dogs past the shop. We try to keep it simple and honest every day while we manage the stock.
