The workshop is situated on S V Road in Malad West, which means there is always a lot of noise from the traffic outside mixed with the sound of our machines. We do a lot of metal work here. It’s greasy and loud, and there’s always metal shavings on the floor that get into your shoes no matter how much you sweep. We have a few lathes and some old drills that have been running since before I can remember. They still work better than the new stuff sometimes. We take on all kinds of odd jobs that people bring in. Maybe a part for a car snapped or someone needs a specific bracket made for a gate. It’s not the kind of place where you want to wear nice clothes. We usually have grease on our faces by lunchtime. The air is thick with the smell of cutting oil and hot steel. We don't really do much in the way of paperwork unless we absolutely have to. Most of the time, we just look at the piece of metal, listen to what the customer needs, and get to cutting. It’s a small operation. We have some regular clients from the nearby industrial areas who come to us when they can't wait for a factory order. We just keep our heads down and get the work done. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we have a couple of big fans that keep the air moving a little bit while we work.
