Hari Om Communication & Xerox

If you walk down Mumbai Poona College Road, you will find us at Hari Om Communication & Xerox. It is a busy place because of all the students from the nearby colleges. They are always in a rush to get their notes copied or their projects printed before a deadline. The xerox machines run almost all day, and they put off a lot of heat and that specific smell of warm paper and toner. Our hands are usually a bit stained with ink by the time we close up. Besides the copying, we handle communications too, though things have changed a lot since everyone got their own mobile phones. The road outside is never quiet, with buses and rickshaws constantly going back and forth. We have stacks of paper everywhere, and sometimes it feels like we are living in a forest of documents. It’s not a polished office; it’s a working shop where things are a bit messy but we know where everything is. We have a small stool where we take turns sitting when there’s a rare quiet moment. We’ve been serving the college crowd here for a long time, and we’ve seen many batches of students come and go. It’s hard work, especially when the machines jam or the electricity acts up, but we just get it fixed and keep going. No fancy talk here, just the sound of the copier and the busy street outside. That’s just how it is on College Road.
